Name

Refereeing at Kraemer Fields

Kraemer Fields is a competitive adult soccer league in Albuquerque. Matches are fast-paced and physical. We typically assign referees who already have experience officiating competitive youth, high school, college, or adult matches.

Because of the level of play, Kraemer Fields is not recommended as a starting point for brand-new referees or officials without match experience. New referees are encouraged to first gain experience with youth leagues, indoor leagues, or high school matches before working games at Kraemer Fields.

Below are several local referee assignors and organizations that provide excellent opportunities for referees to build experience.

Local Referee Opportunities

Duke City Soccer League & Youth Assignments

T.J. assigns a variety of youth and adult soccer and futsal matches throughout the Albuquerque metro area. Assignments include Duke City Soccer League, ECNL, MLS Next Academy, Development Player League, Metro Futsal League, and AYSO Futsal. These assignments are a great place for referees to gain experience working competitive youth matches and tournaments.

Central New Mexico Soccer Officials Association (CNMSOA)

High School Soccer Assignments

📧 Assignor: Bill Barry – abqsoccerofficial@gmail.com
📧 Secretary: Michael Fleming – michaelfleming@comcast.net
📧 Recruiting: Randall Rodriguez – randall.rodriguezsocr@gmail.com

CNMSOA provides referees for high school (varsity, junior varsity, freshman) and middle school soccer throughout central New Mexico, including Albuquerque, Rio Rancho, Bernalillo, East Mountain, Moriarty, Los Lunas, Belen, Valencia, and Socorro.

High school soccer officiating is not affiliated with US Soccer. Referees must complete the National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) exam and register with the New Mexico Activities Association (NMAA) before officiating high school matches.

CNMSOA recommends referees have at least one year of US Soccer refereeing experience before registering with the NMAA.

Youth & Indoor Soccer Opportunities

Contact: Lee Anne Klombies
📧 nmsoccerrefleeanne@gmail.com
📞 505-235-0388

Lee Anne serves as the New Mexico State Youth Referee Administrator (SYRA) and assigns youth soccer matches across the state. She also oversees indoor referee opportunities through US Indoor Soccer and International Indoor Soccer.

Indoor soccer provides year-round officiating opportunities and is a great environment for referees to gain experience and develop their skills.

US Soccer Referee Certification

All referees working matches at Kraemer Fields must be certified through US Soccer.

If you are interested in becoming a referee, you can begin the certification process through the US Soccer Learning Center.

When registering, please make sure to select “New Mexico State Referee Committee” as the host. Then click Course Details, complete the registration and payment, and begin the required modules.

Once the online coursework is completed, someone from the state referee program will typically reach out with next steps. You are also welcome to reach out once your coursework has been approved and you have received your certification.

This certification is the first step for any referee interested in eventually working matches at Kraemer Fields.
